ReachTheWorld.org - Inspire U.S. Students While You Serve
Consider signing up at ReachTheWorld.org
You’re living a one-of-a-kind experience. New language. New culture. New community. But your Peace Corps story doesn’t have to stop at your site. You can share it with students in the U.S.—and help them see the world through your eyes.
That’s what Reach the World is all about. And it’s one of the easiest ways to fulfill the Peace Corps’ Third Goal.
What Is Reach the World?
Reach the World (RTW) is a nonprofit that connects travelers with U.S. classrooms. Through their digital platform, you can join a virtual exchange with K–12 students and share what life is like in your host country.
You’ll write short updates, post photos and videos, and join a few live video chats. It’s simple, flexible, and 100% online.
Why It’s a Great Third Goal Project
The Peace Corps' Third Goal is clear:
“To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.”
RTW helps you do just that. You bring culture, language, food, and daily life into classrooms that might not otherwise learn about life outside the U.S. Your stories spark curiosity, build empathy, and give students a real-world connection to another country.
How It Works
1. You get matched with a U.S. classroom - RTW pairs you with a teacher and group of students based on your location and interests.
2, You share your experience - You post weekly updates with short stories, pictures, and reflections. You’ll also answer student questions and join a few live calls.
3. You keep it simple - Got internet access and a little time each week? That’s all you need.
What You’ll Gain
✔️ You meet the Third Goal - You help U.S. students learn about life in your country of service.
✔️ You inspire young minds - You show students what service, travel, and cultural exchange can look like.
✔️ You grow as a storyteller - Writing updates helps you reflect on your own journey—and improve how you tell it.
